The project From the land to the table: an environmental history of viticulture in the Americas is coordinated by Professor Eunice Sueli Nodari (UFSC / LABIMHA-BR) in partnership with Stanford University (USA), University of Cuyo (AR), National University of General Sarmiento (AR), National University of Quilmes (AR), other Brazilian universities (UFFS and UPF) and from Uruguay, Chile and Colombia. The objective of the research is to investigate / compare the historical process of development of vitiviniculture in the Americas, from the perspective of the global environmental history. The transformations that took place in socio-environmental aspects with the implantation / consolidation of vineyards and wineries from the 19th to the 21st centuries, are the axes that will guide the research. Considering the importance that wine and vineyards have in some countries in the Americas, it is interesting to note that there is little research in the historical perspective, especially in the area of environmental history on viticulture. The geographic section covers the wine regions of southern Brazil, the province of Mendoza in Argentina and the Central Valley in Chile. This highlight is given, as they are the areas where viticulture has developed most strongly, both socially and economically. The geographic cuts are broad, however, necessary to have an understanding of the expansion process of vitiviniculture in a perspective of global environmental history. The United States' influence on wineries will be part of the scope of the research. Having solid research, which places the history of vitiviniculture in the Americas, within the global context, showing its importance, mainly as an economic and cultural commodity, on the rise, will open the way for new research and activities.
